This small extension of an existing 1940's house embodies the changes in family living in Brisbane over the past 60 years. The former distinction between inside and outside have become almost entirely blurred, and rather than being a bare plot with only a mango tree and hills hoist, the backyard has gained primacy as the focus of the living spaces. This project deconstructs the "back deck" into a three dimensional, many-layered space about which this family of five can live.
